Summer Fun

There is nothing like a fresh sea breeze and a cool dip in the ocean to beat a warm summers day. At Dessert Works we captured these two simple pleasures in unique and unexpected ways.

Happy 4th of July!

In celebration of our nation we decided to showcase our best Americana themed cakes, enjoy!

"Oh say can you see . . ." how awesome stars and stripes make a cake look.
A Miss Betsy Ross cake makes a fashionable addition to any party.

A tasteful celebration of service and country come together in beautiful harmony, like "purple mountain majesty and amber waves of grain."

Don't forget, Dessert Works will be closed from July 1st - July 9th

Pigs

As strangle as it may seem, we've created 2 different pig birthday cakes recently that distinguish the different parts of the pig for butchering.

On this cake, the pig was created out of rolled chocolate applique.

Whereas this cake was actually cut out in the shape of a pig.

Legos

If you have been following our blog for awhile, you may have seen this Lego cake that we created last year. Today, we have another Lego cake to share with you. It's not as over-the-top as the first because different techniques were used, but we think it's just as cool!

This cake was frosted in yellow buttercream frosting. Rolled chocolate applique dots were added to the top to make the cake look like a Lego, and a rolled chocolate applique Lego man finished the cake!

The cow jumped over the moon

"Hey diddle diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon,
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the fork ran away with the Spoon."

This classic English nursery rhyme was the perfect inspiration for this baby shower cake.

Bruins Groom's cake

Recently, Allison & Derek ordered their wedding cake and groom's cake from us! Derek loves hockey, particularly the Boston Bruins, so Alison had us create this groom's cake for him as a surprise!

On top of their wedding cake, they also had a hockey themed bride and groom topper!

With these cakes together, we were able to give them a more traditional wedding cake and still incorporate Derek's love of hockey with a fun groom's cake!

Congratulations you two! Wishing you all the best in your married life together!
